About the Department

Department of Computer Science & Engineering

Foreseeing the tremendous impact that technology inevitably has on the modern-day world, with computers and the knowledge of coding at its crux, we have ensured that the Computer Science and Engineering Department at VISAT provides our students a top-notch, state-of-the-art education comprising the best in terms of facilities and the faculty. We believe in nurturing our students such that they emerge as industrious, creative and quality-conscious professionals. In the academic year 2023-2024, the Computer Science and Engineering Department at VISAT has introduced two new B.Tech programs, namely CS(AI & ML) and CS(DS), catering to the burgeoning demand for expertise in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML) and Data Science (DS).

Our faculty comprises highly qualified and experienced members specializing across the various areas of Computer Science including Networking, Algorithms, Data Mining, Image Processing, Software Engineering, Natural Language Processing, Computer Graphics, Web Technology, Embedded Systems, Evolutionary Computing, Network Security, Wireless Sensor Networks etc. The students are provided with ample amounts of exposure to the contemporary standards of the field as well as the latest trends and events in the industry. This is done by importing knowledge on focused areas such as embedded system design, network management and administration, bio-informatics, extreme programming, software architecture, sensor networks, grid computing, soft computing etc. Our teaching methodologies are extensive and include various techniques such as workshops, guest lectures, seminars by industry experts, and other professionals etc. The department is equipped with world-class laboratories with high-speed internet facilities through leased lines and satellite links (DVB). We have secured a campus agreement with Microsoft Corporation and Redhat Linux such that all our labs include the latest and most advanced software tools

Programme Outcomes (PO's)

Engineering Students will be able to:

PO1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering fundamentals to solve complex engineering problems.

PO2. Problem analysis: identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems   to   reach   conclusions   using   first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

PO3. Design/development of solutions:   Design   solutions   for   complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs   with   appropriate   consideration   for   public   health   and safety and cultural, societal, and environmental factors.

PO4. Conduct investigations of   complex   problems:   Use   research   based knowledge and research methods, including the design of experiments, analysis, and interpretation of   data,   and   utilise   the   information   to   reach   valid conclusions.

PO5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern civil engineering software, including prediction and modeling, to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6. The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

PO7. Environment and sustainability:   Understand   the   impact   of   the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate the   knowledge   of and need   for   sustainable development.

PO8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics.

PO9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual and also as a   member   or   leader   in   diverse   teams and in   multidisciplinary settings.

PO10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as being able   to   comprehend   and   write   effective   reports   and   design documentation, make effective   presentations,   and   give   and   receive   clear instructions.

PO11. Project management and   finance:   Demonstrate   knowledge   and understanding of engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work as a member and leader in a team to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

PO12. Lifelong learning: recognize the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and lifelong learning in the broadest context of technological change.

  • Attain the capacity to plan and design hardware, software, and networking systems effectively and efficiently with the aid of suitable programming-based frameworks.
